Hempfield Area School District Joins CurvePoint's Founders Circle to Enhance School Safety With Wi-AI

Pittsburgh, PA – CurvePoint, a Carnegie Mellon University spinout transforming school safety through Wi-Fi-based spatial intelligence, announced today that Hempfield Area School District has joined the company's Founders Circle program and will begin implementing Wi-AI at Hempfield Area High School.

New Partnership Focused on Proactive Safety

Wi-AI uses AI to decode how Wi-Fi signals interact with the physical environment, capturing subtle disruptions caused by people and objects to deliver real-time insights into weapons, occupancy, and movement.

Camera-based systems require a threat to be visible; whereas, Wi-AI provides real-time situational awareness while protecting student privacy and detecting concealed objects through materials such as backpacks or bags. Wi-AI gives districts a proactive approach to safety that is both cost-effective and unobtrusive.

Implementation Begins at the High School

District leadership has decided to move forward and deploy CurvePoint's technology at its high school.

Privacy Without Surveillance

Wi-AI does not collect biometric information or personal identifiers. The system does not analyze faces, images, voice, or any characteristics that could identify an individual. Instead, it interprets how Wi-Fi signals interact with objects in the environment to detect potential threats. Alerts are routed quietly to designated school staff so they can assess and respond without unnecessary disruption.

Founders Circle Collaboration

As part of the Founders Circle, Hempfield Area School District will collaborate with CurvePoint and other early partner districts as Wi-AI continues to expand across Pennsylvania and the United States. Founders Circle districts provide feedback that helps refine real-world performance, implementation processes, and best practices for K–12 environments.

Installation planning at Hempfield Area High School will begin immediately, with initial deployment scheduled following onboarding with the CurvePoint and district teams.
